Abstract

This research addresses the challenges and technological breakthroughs in digital supply chain management, particularly through artificial intelligence (AI). The results highlight the increasing relevance of digitalization and automation while embedding AI in supply chain optimization. These applications will include the market-mature areas of logistics optimization and predictive analytics for business. Still, they will extend to emerging industries, from AI in financial forecasting through digital twin simulations supporting environmental responsibility. It was also noted that AI has the ability to act as a go-between for various technological advancements and supply chain outcomes, including improved data management and reduced risk of technology threats. We identified gaps in research regarding AI interoperability and complexity and standardization of how AI-driven tools support supply chain processes. Although AI offers the potential to revolutionize supply chain operations, the complete implementation of these solutions is still a work in progress. The discussion surrounding AI in digital supply chains helps researchers and practitioners to understand what can be expected from them, opening paths for deeper investigation. © 2025 IEEE.
