Abstract

This study explores optimizing coal blending to meet the quality requirements of two clients, PT. Y and PT. Z, using the Simplex Method. The objective was to determine optimal blending ratios to achieve specified parameters for ash content (ASH), total sulfur (TS), and calorific value (CV). For PT. Y, the optimal blend was 54% seam B and 46% seam C, producing coal with an ash content of 4.41%, sulfur content of 0.39%, and calorific value of 4,200 kcal/kg. These values meet PT. Y’s criteria of ash content ≤4.5%, sulfur ≤0.40%, and calorific value of 4,200 kcal/kg. For PT. Z, the optimal ratio was 68% seam A and 32% seam D, yielding coal with 5.94% ash content, 0.58% sulfur content, and a calorific value of 5,400 kcal/kg. These results align with PT. Z’s requirements of ash content ≤6.0%, sulfur ≤0.60%, and calorific value of 5,400 kcal/kg. The study demonstrates that the Simplex Method enables precise coal blending to meet stringent quality standards. Its implementation ensures that the blended coal satisfies client specifications, highlighting its effectiveness in industrial applications where rigorous quality control is essential.
