Abstract

Purpose: Eigenvalue-eigenvector solution procedure is developed in this article for bending analysis of a graphene origami (G-Ori) reinforced composite plate subjected to thermomechanical loads. Methods: The first order shear deformable is extended for description of the displacement field components and the virtual work principle is used for derivation of the governing equations of motion. The solution is presented for two opposite clamped-clamped and two opposite simply-supported boundary conditions. The solution is derived using computation of eigenvalues and solution of characteristic equation. Results: The numerical results are presented along the coordinate system with changes volume fraction, foldability parameter and thermal loads. The proposed model and novel materials can be used in technical instruments. Conclusions: A decrease in structural stiffness is observed with an increase in foldability parameter of the graphene origami structure. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
