Abstract

The Spiral Optimization Algorithm (SOA) is one of metaheuristic method based on natural spiral patterns to search for optimal solutions. SOA modification was created to improve its performance. The modification of SOA is called an effective spiral optimization algorithm (ESOA). This ESOA is powerful for solving the approximate solution with multiple variables. Therefore, in this paper, ESOA is used to approach the solutions of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) both linear and nonlinear. The ODEs solutions are approximated using the Fourier series expansion, where the coefficients of the series are optimized using ESOA. Then, based on the ESOA result, it effectively approximates ODEs solutions. Furthermore, ESOA results also show better performance than other metaheuristic methods. © 2026 Author(s).
