Normalization of the Batang Agam River at Payakumbuh City in addition to changing the sinuosity of the river, has changed land use and land cover in the Riparian Batang Agam River. This study aims to analyze the current riparian landscape conditions of the Batang Agam River to see its potential in increasing the value of Payakumbuh City’s Land Quality Index. This research methods used the overlay method, by analyzing riparian land use map, riparian land cover map and the sinuosity map of the Batang Agam River at Payakumbuh City. The instrument used in this research is the ArcGIS 10.3 application. The result was analyzed by scoring the total value of Sinuosity Index, Land Use Suitability Index (LUSI), and Vegetation Covered Index. Then, the value is classified into 3 natural character classes, namely: high, medium and low. This explains the current riparian condition of the Batang Agam River. As a result, only 4% of the sinuosity of the Batang Agam River has a high natural character to increase the Land Quality Index. Meanwhile, river border conditions with moderate and low natural characteristics each have the same amount, namely 48%. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
