As Indonesia solidifies its position as a global tourist destination, there is an increasing need to prioritize the physical and mental health of high school students. The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between internet addiction, body mass index, bullying, and mental health among high school students in one of the tourism regions of Indonesia. This study conducted a school-based cross-sectional study design at several high schools in Bukittinggi City, which is one of the well-known tourist areas in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The research sample consisted of high school students aged 15-18 years. The number of samples in this study was determined to be 118 respondents. Sample selection in this research utilized multistage stratified clustered sampling. The measures in this study were internet addiction, BMI, bullying, and mental health. Data analysis employed structural equation modeling techniques to test the research hypotheses. P<0.05 is considered significant. There were relationships between BMI and bullying (β=0.300, t-value=3.309, p-value=0.001), internet addiction and BMI (β=0.245, t-value=2.470, p-value=0.014) and internet addiction and mental health (β=0.297, t-value=2.495, p-value=0.013). However, there was no relationship between BMI and mental health, bullying and mental health, as well as between internet addiction and bullying (p>0.05). This study confirmed significant relationships were found between BMI and bullying, internet addiction and BMI, as well as internet addiction and mental health. The findings underscore the need for holistic interventions and continuous support to ensure the well-being of students in the evolving landscape of global tourism. © (2024), (Malaysian Public Health Physicians Association).
