This research use an approach that is a quantitative descriptive approach, which where the data has obtained will analyst using formulas in accordance to each variables. The indicators studied are related to changes in land area, potential or land capacity for food agriculture. Nevertheless, this research used image interpretation such as supervised classification for extract information from Landsat-5 TM 2011and Landsat-8 2019, which this process used Geographical Information System (GIS). While the population in this study were all areas in Dharmasraya Regency including of 11 districts.This research has discovered (1) Theland use changes was happened on all types of land use, such asbuilt-up, forests, plantations and rice fields. Meanwhile, there is an outage in open land, agriculture, swamps and shrubs. (2) The type of land capability in class II, III, IV, V and VI, however the dominant area is class II (3) Regional Land Capability Index (IKLw) > 1 that mean the land have a capability to optimization a land potential, it specially for cultivation area which is maintain environmental balance. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
