Abstract

This study aims to analyse students' understanding of concepts in the sequence of real number by using realistic mathematics education approach. The research method carried out at the Padang State University Mathematics Study Program is descriptive qualitative with data collected through interviews via WhatsApp, observation sheets, and understanding of concept ability test is conducted by Zoom meeting. Realistic Mathematics Education is used by lecturers to provide real analytical material. In this case, the lecturer introduced three RME principles such as guided reinvention, didactic phenomenology and self-development models to understand student concepts. The results show that concept understanding students and can understand the definition and theorem of material real analysis by using RME. The students' can understand sequence and theorem related to sequence of real analysis with percentage 63.25%. © 2023 Author(s).
