Learning physics in the 4.0 revolution era requires students to have the ability to communicate, collaborate, be innovative, and be literate. Learning motivation is one aspect that plays an important role in requiring students to have this ability. Learning physics at Senior High School in Padang City is not always in accordance with student learning motivation. This study aims to determine student learning motivation in learning physics during the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the development of physics learning games with scientific literacy. The method used in this research is descriptive. The sample consists of class X students from some Senior High Schools in Padang City which are determined by using a stratified random sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out using an online questionnaire via a google form. The instrument used consists of 3 components and 6 subscales. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the analysis showed that students' motivation from intrinsic and extrinsic goal orientation subscales had the highest percentage and the lowest percentage was seen in the anxiety test subscale. These results are used as the basis for the development of physics learning games with scientific literacy. © 2023 Author(s).
