Bacterial Cellulose (BC) has many applications like in the manufacture of paper, plastic, and the food industry. Moreover, BC can be used in medic especially as raw material manufacture of cartilage. Because the low nature owned by BC then required some substances are called composite can improve the characteristic of BC so it has similar to the bone cartilage and can be used as bone cartilage synthetic. This research has the purpose is to see the effect variations crosslinker (starch) on the performance of Composite Bacteria Cellulose-Extract Leaf Mimosa Pudica (CBC-ELMP) so it can be applied in the fake bone cartilage later. First, preparation BC which is fermented approximately 14 days, then do purification BC. After purification, BC soaked for 4 days in ELMP and crosslinker for 3 days using a ray of UV and shake. Characteristics CBC-ELMP is done by testing the nature of the physical, the nature of the mechanical and structural. The water content contained in BC which amounted to 99.16%, CBC-ELMP is 97.73%, CBC-ELMP crosslinker 1% is 94.18%, CBC-ELMP crosslinker 2% is 91.64% and CBC-ELMP crosslinker 3% is 95.40%. BC-ELMP with the addition crosslinker 2% has elasticity, tensile strength, and crystallinity much better than BC and CBC-ELMP. When Analyst functional structure use FTIR is showed that not have a new functional structure in the composite, just peak shift. Test the degree of crystallinity using the instrument XRD showed that the CBC-ELMP C2% have crystanility much higher than in the BC and CBC-ELMP. © 2023 Author(s).
