Abstract

Lead (II) is one of the dangerous metal ions that comes from several industrial wastes. The presence of lead (II) in water is very dangerous for the environment and needs to be addressed. Biosorption is an alternative process that can be used. Biosorption using langsat shell biosorbent which has been immobilized with sodium silicate has proven to be able to remove lead (II). Immobilization of langsat shell can improve the performance of biosorbents in the adsorption process. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions for the adsorption of lead (II) with variations in pH (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) and concentration (100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350) mg/L using the batch method. The results obtained from this study, the optimum conditions occurred at pH 3 and a concentration of 300 mg/L with an adsorption capacity of 12.8013 mg/g and 31.7098 mg/g. © 2023 Author(s).
