A design of a microstrip antenna with an ellipse metasurface is presented in this paper. The antenna construction comprises two layers of substrate. A square radiating with corner truncation on the bottom layer and an ellipse metasurface on the top layer. The ellipse metasurface is rotating 45 degrees by the y-axis. The simulated result of impedance bandwidth is 410 MHz. Meanwhile, the simulated result of gain is 8 dBic at 3.5 GHz. Based on the simulation results, the antenna design could be employed for 5G applications. © 2023 IEEE.
