Mesoporous silica was prepared using sodium silicate as a precursor and Cetyl Trimethylammonium Bromide (CTAB) as a templating agent. The adsorption ability of silica was enhanced by using DMA (dimethylamine) as a modifier and glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as a linking compound. The adsorption process was carried out by incorporating the chloride solution into the DMA-modified mesoporous silica, followed by the desorption process by flowing the acid solution. The desorption agent's type and concentration determine the desorption process's effectiveness. In this study, 0.0744 mg of chloride ions were completely desorbed using 0.08 M HNO3 © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
