The digital image watermarking method has been effectively proven to hide the secret information into the host image for the ownership protection purpose. One example is the medical image watermarking using Redundant Discrete Wavelet Transform (RDWT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). This method utilizes the RDWT redundancy property to render the watermark image of the same size as the host image. It also exploits the SVD stability property to reach the robustness aspect for the extracted watermark image. This technique adopts the Arnold transformation to improve the security level. Even though this method yields a promising result, it cannot resist the attack presented in this paper. This attack generates side information from the counterfeit host image and fake watermark image to generate its counterfeit extracted watermark image. The proposed attack yields the extracted watermark image, which is similar to the counterfeit watermark image as documented in the Experimental Results section. It shows the weaknesses and flaws of medical image watermarking using RDWT -SVD. © 2023 IEEE.
