Analysis of Student’s Learning Independence in Learning Mathematics in the Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

One of the things that determines a student's success is their learning independence. The government has turned its focus on the Merdeka curriculum to help students develop effective learning independence. The purpose of this research is to describe how students learn mathematics independently within the Merdeka curriculum. This research is qualitative research with a case study type. The methods for collecting data over interviews. The research's subjects were three different ability level students from grade 10th SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP who learn within the Merdeka curriculum, including their parents and math teachers, comprised the sample. Both descriptive and qualitative analysis was done on the collected data. Triangulation of sources is a technique used in data validity. The results of this research indicate students can learn mathematics independently using the Merdeka curriculum. However, the students with low abilities haven't reached the self-indicator efficacy well, so this indicator needs to be improved. © 2026 Author(s).
