Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the existing conditions of marine ecotourism and determine tsunami vulnerability zones as a basic development planning based disaster mitigation in Pariaman City. Where coastal regions and small islands in Pariaman City has become a tourist attraction in the last decade. The increase in tourist visits is not accompanied by good management which makes a threat to the preservation of the coastal and marine environment of Pariaman City. Analysis of the data used includes analysis with a spatial approach use Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The research results show that regions with very high-high tsunami vulnerability zones covering 7.90 ha and 327.38 ha are located in community settlement. The regions with a medium tsunami vulnerability zones are located as far as 1 km from the coastline of Pariaman City covering 1 622.72 ha which is located in the rice fields, plantations, settlement covering 340.38 ha and open land 51.50 ha. The regions with low-very low tsunami vulnerability zones are 2.5-3 km from the coastline. Based on disaster mitigation based development planning according to Minister of Public Works Regulation Number: 11/PRT/M/2012 there are three (3) basic concepts of planning for tsunami mitigation i.e; 1) New developments are not placed in high damage-prone zones; 2) New developments in damage-prone zones must be designed to reduce losses; and 3) Urban development in tsunami-prone areas should be rebuilt/retrofitted for other uses. © 2020, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc..
