Abstract

Distance learning presents various challenges for teachers, particularly in understanding and accommodating students' diverse learning styles. Each student learns differently, and these differences must be recognized for effective teaching. Failing to acknowledge and cater to these differences can lead to monotonous teaching methods that hinder student comprehension and creativity. Applying the Plomp development model, this study evaluates the application of learning style concepts developed by Peter Honey and Alan Mumford, implemented in a Learning Management System (LMS) designed to enhance creative learning practices and encourage student engagement. The research employs a development method based on the Plomp model, which systematically assesses educational tools in diverse contexts to ensure effectiveness. Two hundred nineteen students enrolled in an introductory programming course at Universitas Negeri Padang participated in the study, providing crucial insights into the LMS's effectiveness in supporting learning. The results indicate that student experiences across six key aspects—attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, reliability, stimulation, and novelty— received overwhelmingly favorable evaluations, reflecting the LMS's success in enhancing student engagement and improving learning outcomes. This study highlights the importance of understanding and accommodating students' learning styles using appropriate media and digital tools. These tools create an environment that encourages the exploration of new ideas, stimulates innovation, and promotes active participation. Ultimately, by fostering creativity and offering equal growth opportunities, educators can ensure that all students are equipped to succeed academically and develop their full creative potential. Teachers can create more engaging and effective learning environments that promote academic success and innovative development by recognizing and addressing individual learning styles. © 2025, Politeknik Negeri Padang.
